I was on my way to work this morning and as i was listing to 95.5. they started talking about Rhianna's 20/20 interview thas airing tomorrow. they played a snippet of it. After listening to it i found a new level of respect for Rhianna and here's why. ALot of people are saying theres two sides to a story and she hit him first shes playing victim. but as a person who was once in an abusive relationship i just feel where she's coming from. If u listen closely she says that she went back 9 times. No woman ever pictures them selves being that "dumb broad" in a lifetime movie that stays with a dude that puts his foot up her ass. But honestly everyone says "i"d leaVE THE FIRST TIME" ITS REALLY NOT THAT SIMPLE physchologically you go through so much.At first you hurt and sad you go thru the why me then you get angry like "how dare he do this", then theres the revenge stage then you move on to forgiveness. this is the most dangerous stage because here you stop thinking of yourself as a victim and you reflect on the relationship. You start to question your behaviour in correspondence to his actions and you may convince yourself he wont do it again he loves me and you go back.As Rhianna said most women don't tell anyone because its embarrassing and who wants there personal life spread out for everyone to see? but here's was VERY public. Alot of famous people argue that they aren't a role model and they are just human and why should they have to live up to societies standards of a role model for their fans. But lets be real here when you are famous and in the public eye there will always be someone looking up to you. Especially singers.... there is some little girl somewhere who wants to be just like you. dress like you, talk like you, walk like you
What made me respect her is instead of saying I'm no role model she accepted responsibility for her personal life and said hey I am selfishly in love. I am setting a bad example for every little girl who looks up to me for every teenager who listens to my songs. She said maybe Chris wouldn't ever hit her again but by being back with him it sends a message to women and girls that its okay to go back. And they might not be as fortunate to have the abuse end. This touched me to see a 20 year old woman younger than myself be responsible for the message she sends to the world and be accountable for her actions. that was so touching i encourage everyone to tune into the 20/20 interview this Friday
